He inherited Masaoka Shiki's sketching principle and presided over the haiku journal “Hototogisu”. Kyoshi advocated “sketchyism,” emphasizing the depiction of things as they are seen by the eye. Along with concrete descriptions, we aimed to leave room for the reader's imagination to create deeper impressions.
