  • "The Breeze That Scatters Your Flowers" (花風) is inspired by the ancient wisdom that guides samurai to be both warriors and poets. This duality emphasizes the importance of maintaining a calm mind and a composed presence, even in the face of adversity. Inazo Nitobe, in his writings on Bushido, quotes a Prince of Shirakawa who advises that the mind should focus on the beauty of nature—such as the fragrance of flowers and the breeze that scatters them—to cultivate inner peace and true strength.

This piece captures the essence of that teaching. Just as a samurai remains serene amidst the chaos of battle, this artwork reminds us to stay composed and centered in the face of life’s unpredictable winds. The words "flower, wind" symbolize the beautiful yet fleeting elements of nature, encouraging us to maintain a poetic and calm mind in all circumstances.
